Samuel Chisholm and Jane McDowall are the earliest of the Chisholm ancestors that I have been able to find. Their son John lived in Rerrick with his wife Mary Hewatt during the early-mid 19th century. John and Mary had nine children: Samuel, Robert, Margaret, Helen, James, Jane, William, John and Janet. The family were all employed in farming.
