The Shedden family lived in south west India in Calicut and Trivandrum.

Alexander Hall Shedden is the earliest member of the family that I have found. He married Margaret Graham, daughter of a Scottish soldier and his "Anglo Indian" wife. Alexander's father is named as William Shedden on Alexander and Margaret's marriage record but, so far, I have not managed to trace William.

Recent DNA research on ancestry.co.uk seems to suggest that Alexander Hall Shedden may have roots in Ayrshire, Scotland
