John Skimming and his wife, Jessie Gemmell lived in Kirkmabreck, Kirkcudbrightshire from the mid 1800's to the early 1900's. John and Jessie had six children: Helen or Ellen, James, Agnes, John, Mary and Maggie. John's occupation was Ploughman and Railway Surfaceman. Unlike his brothers, John did not change his surname to "McSkimming".
